[2 Timothy 3:7] Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Having a firm foundation in the truths of the Bible is important, but knowledge alone cannot bring one closer to God.
[James 1:22] But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Loving and obeying God is far more important than theological knowledge.
[1 Corinthians 8:2-3] If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.
You can know all the Bible and teach it to others, but if you don’t love and obey Him, you will still end up in the wrong destination when you die.
Please understand one important fact: No one is saved by believing doctrines. No one is saved only by believing what the Bible says about Jesus.
[James 2:19] The demons also believe, and shudder.
Your mind is filled with knowledge, but when you are tempted, you fall. When you are faced with an important choice, you make the wrong decision. When God makes His will clear to you, you refuse because it interferes with your own plans. That’s because you keep your life for yourself. You are the master of your own life, not God.
[Luke 14:33] Any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
You know a lot of theology, but after so many years of being a Christian, God is still not real to you. You don’t really know Him. He is just an idea, a belief, a doctrine.
If you were honest with yourself, you will have to admit you are still empty inside. That’s why there is no peace and joy in your life. Yet you keep doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results. Wasn’t that another definition of insanity?
It’s time to go back to square one and truly surrender your life to Him. Let go of man-made doctrines that put God in a box and keep you enslaved. The gospel is simple:
[Acts 2:38] Repent and be baptized and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Get your mind out of the way and open yourself so the Holy Spirit can enter you and flow through you.
[Matthew 18:3-4] Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
[Proverbs 3:5-6] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
