Being an overcomer is a salvation issue, not a rewards issue.
If you want to go to heaven, you need to endure the trials and temptations that come into your life and be an overcomer.
Do you believe these words of Jesus?
[Matthew 24:13] But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
Those who fail to endure to the end and abandon the race won’t be saved. “Once saved always saved” is a big fat lie.
Does the following verse sound like a loss of rewards to you?
[Revelation 2:11] The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.
Don’t be deceived, my friend. This is clearly about salvation. Only the overcomers won’t be hurt by the second death. Those who fail to overcome will be hurt by the second death.
[Revelation 21:8] As for the cowardly, … the sexually immoral, … and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.
Exactly the same idea is also expressed in this verse:
[Revelation 3:5] The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never erase his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
Those who fail to overcome will have their names erased from the book of life and not confessed before the Father. Do you honestly believe you can be saved if your name is not in the book of life?
[Revelation 20:15] If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
The Bible is very clear and means exactly what it says. Twisting it to say what you want it to say is extremely unwise.
If you want to see heaven, you must be an overcomer.
